Research interests & goals:
Lisa Kiang is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Wake Forest University. Dr. Kiang’s research intersects self and identity, family and social relationships, and culture. Within this broad framework, the bulk of her work has focused on ethnic identity development among adolescents from ethnic minority and immigrant backgrounds. Primary themes in her research program include: (1) ethnic identity and culture as positive resources in development, (2) ways in which the immediate environment and broader geographic context can impact self and identity development, (3) developmental trajectories of identity, and (4) understanding both psychological and physiological reactions to sociocultural stress (e.g., ethnic/racial rejection).
