Research Interests & Goals:
Dianne Stanton Ward, is a Professor in the Department of Nutrition at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and also a Research Fellow in the UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. Her research interests are in the development of healthy weight and the prevention of obesity in children and families. Dr. Ward’s recent work has focused on the role of child care and home environments, both physical and social, in the development of healthy weight. In addition to childcare, Dr. Ward’s has developed and evaluated obesity prevention interventions in schools and community settings. Her work also includes the development of environmental instruments to assess the impact of child care and home settings on child weight status.
