The International Institute on Developmental Science (IIDS) was first convened in 1998 as an exchange program intended to stimulate long-term bilateral cooperation between Swedish and foreign universities.
The International Institute on Developmental Science (IIDS) is an annual meeting which brings together international scholars and students for an intensive training on topics related to developmental science. The following chart details the locations, dates, and topics of each of the institutes that have occurred since its inception in 1998. The IIDS meetings have received funding support from the STINT Foundation (Sweden), NIMH, NSF, NICHD, and the sponsoring universities. The IIDS meeting sites have alternated between the United States (Chapel Hill, NC, State College, PA, New York, NY), Sweden, Finland, and Germany. The 12th annual meeting of the IIDS was hosted by the CDS in September 2009 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, followed by the 13th annual meeting that was hosted by New York University and took place in New York, NY in September 2010.
